Do you have research chops or are willing to learn them? If so, love to meet you!
If you're planning a career in the nonprofit sector, experience with research in the fund development space can give you a powerful advantage. Most employers look favorably on candidates who have knowledge of finding and profiling new prospective funders.
At Rock Creek Conservancy, we're working every day to make Rock Creek Park - the District's beautiful urban oasis - a place for all people to protect and enjoy. And in this time of unprecedented challenges, we could really use your help finding new donors and funders.
We're looking for a couple of sharp individuals to research potential local, regional, and national partners for our projects - among them, revitalizing Rock Creek's failing forests (have you seen the way invasives and erosion are harming the trees?) and restoring the Carter Barron Amphitheater, the park's arts & culure "jewel in the crown."
We'd ask you to track down and analyze foundations, philanthropists, and corporations whose giving patterns and commitments to the environment (or, for the Carter Barron, arts & culure & landmark restoration) make the ideal candidates for us to approach.
If we work together, on our end, we'll commit to providing you with clear guidelines for how to go about the research, and expectations for what the research will achieve. On your end, we'd look for a commitment of 2-3 hours/week, including times to check in by email and occasionally by phone, for feedback and appreciation.
We'd love to have you volunteer with our small but mighty team, which is striving to help Rock Creek remain the place of respite and refuge we love, not just for people, but for the flora and fauna.
