The Evergreen Nature Center Visitor Assistant provides visitors with a welcoming atmosphere and information on the importance of the lake environment, local birds, fish and other wildlife and their habitat. Visitor Assistants also perform various tasks related to the daily operation of the Evergreen Nature Center.

Duties:

  • Offers visitor greetings and interpretation of exhibits
  • Answers basic questions about the Nature Center, Evergreen Audubon and the local watershed
  • Opens or Closes the Nature Center
  • Records visitor attendance
  • Answers phone inquiries
  • Sells Nature Center merchandise

Time Commitment:

  • Two 2 hour shifts per month between May through October
  • The Nature Center is open seasonally Wednesday - Sunday:
    • Memorial Day - Labor Day (11am to 5pm)
    • Weekends only - May 4 - Memorial Day & Labor Day - October 13 (11am to 5pm)
Training:
  • Volunteers must complete 4-6 hours of Visitor Assistant training.
  • Attend the Volunteer Orientation
  • On-the-job training will be provided

Description

The Evergreen Nature Center is a project of Evergreen Audubon. It is located in the old Warming Hut/Boat House on the south side of Evergreen Lake.
