Fremont Lake Campground Ambassador

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

We are actively recruiting a campground ambassador for the Fremont Lake Campground. Fremont Lake is located 7 miles from Pinedale, and sits at the foot of the rugged Wind River Range, known for its craggy granite peaks and sparkling glacial lakes. The campground is situated on a forested hillside above the lake. Aspen, Douglas fir, juniper and a dense understory provide shade and privacy between campsites. Both the campground and access road are paved, p icnic tables and fire rings with grills are provided and so are vault toilets and water . A private camping site will be set aside for the campground ambassador to stay at.

A camping ambassador is someone who provides visitors with education, information and keeps an eye on overall conditions of the area. They greet campers, ensure they are staying in a designated site, help troubleshoot rec.gov reservation issues as they arise with visitors, and provides them with information on how to camp responsibly: proper food storage in bear country, remembering to put out fires, and pack out trash.

Couples are welcome to apply, per diem reimbursement is available to those who qualify, and start/end dates are somewhat flexible. You must have your own RV or trailer for this volunteer opportunity. The town of Pinedale has all the amenities you might need, including a grocery store, post office, many restaurants, a recreation center, laundromat, and a recently-built hospital.
