Join our Missing Child Search Team!

ORGANIZATION: NEVADA CHILD SEEKERS

Get up-to-date training by Nevada Child Seekers in partnership with local law enforcement to learn how to safely and effectively search for missing children during an emergency missing child search force activation.

When a child is reported missing and in danger, law enforcement will activate Nevada Child Seekers to reach out to our volunteers to join our search team for quick recovery of that child.

Nevada Child Seekers will notify volunteers on a command center location which will likely be in the area where the child was last seen or at LVMPD headquarters.

Volunteers will then arrive and check in and be briefed on the emergency situation and details on the missing child.

Volunteers will then form teams (no one searches alone!) and be provided with flyers, area maps, and other resources to aid them on their search.

Volunteers will canvas their assigned areas and then report back to the command center until their shift is over, they can no longer stay, or if the child is found. We value any time you are able to give!

Once a search is completed, volunteers will be briefed on the status of the missing child via our social media.

Nevada Child Seekers also hosts monthly flyering events to canvas the city with missing child flyers to help aid in their safe recovery.

Mission Statement

Nevada Child Seekers mission is to prevent, identify, and locate missing and exploited children.

Description

According to the National Missing Children Clearing House, over 8,000 children are reported missing each year in Nevada and approximately 200 are considered in danger. Created in 1985, Nevada Child Seekers has responded to these statistics to address the plight of missing children in our community. To rescue our children, our agency draws upon the wealth and experience by working in tendem with the F.B.I Internet Crimes Against Childrens Taskforce, Child Protective Services, The Department of Child and Fmaily Services, Law Enforcement, and volunteer private investigators. Most importantly, however, we rely on the number of volunteers from our community who leap into action when a child goes missing and joins our search teams. With over 95% of children being recovered safely, Nevada Child Seekers expanded efforts to not only recover missing children but also prevent children from going missing in the first place through our prevention education programs and trainings aimed towards children, teens, parents and community leaders. We are more than just a search team providing vital resources like fingerprinting and DNA kits at community events and presenting our programs to local schools and organizations in the community.
