Founded in 1969, Special Olympics Indiana has grown to more than 19,000 athletes and Unified Partners in virtually every county throughout the state. With the support of nearly 8,500 coaches and volunteers, Special Olympics Indiana provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities at no cost to the participants.

The 2025 Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games are returning to the campuses of Indiana State University and Rose Hulman. This June 6th, 7th and 8th! SOIN athletes and Unified Partners will travel to compete in Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Powerlifting, Swimming, Track and Field, and Volleyball! We need your help in filling over 2,000 volunteer positions to help make these games a success!

Special Olympics Indiana is a nonprofit organization that is a part of the global Special Olympics movement, using sport, health, education, and leadership programs every day around the world to end discrimination against and empower people with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics Indiana receives no federal or state-appropriated funds, is not a United Way Agency, and relies entirely on corporate, civic and individual donations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Must be at least 8
  • Our general volunteer shifts last between 4-6 hours. Our registration site list the hours needed for a position as well as a job description and training needed!
  • We allow individuals age 8 and up to volunteer. However, ages 8-13 must volunteer with a parent or guardian. Ages 14 and up are allowed to volunteer individually.
