Camp Ausome's mission is to provide a safe space for children with autism ages 6-11, to engage in summer camp activities with professional staff and volunteers familiar with autism. The vision is to give children the opportunity to play safely with a compassionate staff that is aware of their abilities and needs. We want to give the children support in learning social skills and participating in activities. Camp activities would include free play, sports, music therapy, yoga, games and crafts. The activities will encourage participation at any skill level. The goal is to be safe and have fun!
The location is still undetermined. Howeverit will be in St. Charles or Chesterfield.
Expect campers to be able to engage in physical activity. The maximum number of campers is 10.
Volunteers will help facilitate activities, help engage campers and provide support for staff and campers based on qualifications. Volunteers will participate in activities to encourage campers. We welcome Volunteers seeking internship and practicum experience.
Specific skills that are a plus are autism experience and knowledge, crafting experience, first aid training, nursing skills, childcare experience, creative and outgoing personality.
We are willing to work shifts and will try to be flexible with volunteer schedules.

Our programs support families and help educate families and the public on autism. The Freddie Ford Family Foundation has hosted a series of webinars regarding autism and the various therapies for families. We have donated sensory boxes for families during Covid 19 to support autistic children. We have adopted families for Christmas. We have donated Easter baskets. We have an annual event, Heroes for Autism 5K and 1 mile race. Finally, we are hosting our summer camp for autism this July 2021.
