Hansberry Garden & Nature Center's annual plant fair is a beloved neighborhood event at which vendors and Hansberry Garden members offer plants and plant-related items for sale. It's our biggest annual fundraiser, too -- along with membership fees, revenues from this event cover our basic operating expenses. We need helpers on the day of the fair to do these activities:
- Any set-up and labeling of plants that has not been completed by the day of the fair
- Greeting patrons and helping direct them to resources
- Helping set up tables
- Organizing plant trays, boxes, etc. for patrons to use
- Helping patrons transport plants to their vehicles
- Finding information about plants for patrons (we especially appreciate volunteers who are knowledgeable about plants and/or have access to plant-identification apps on their phones)
- Cleaning and securing the garden after the fair ends

Description
The Hansberry Garden and Nature Center is a community garden and resource for environmental education in the heart of Southwest Germantown at Wayne and Hansberry in Philadelphia. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization invested in our community through organic gardening, the City Harvest Program of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and educational programs for children and adults.
