Volunteer Guide: Community Wellness Initiative (CWI)

Welcome to the Community Wellness Initiative!Are you passionate about health, community service, and making a real difference? The Community Wellness Initiative (CWI) is your chance to contribute to meaningful change in both urban and rural communities where health education and access to care are limited.
Whether you're a pre-med student, a nurse, a public health enthusiast, or simply someone with a heart for service - this program is for you.
What You’ll Do as a Volunteer 1. Health Education and Awareness- Give interactive health talks on topics like hygiene, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health.
- Visit schools, community centers, and local gatherings to share lifesaving information in simple, relatable ways.
- Lead fun, educational activities and awareness campaigns during health-focused days and events.
- Work alongside local health professionals in mobile clinics.
- Help with registration, triage, medication dispensing, or counseling.
- Note: Clinical roles (e.g., taking vitals, assisting in exams) are only open to licensed professionals.
- Help collect and organize health data during outreach programs.
- Support patients by explaining treatments, medications, or follow-up instructions in an easy-to-understand way.
- Contribute to improving patient records and health reports.
- Visit homes to provide companionship, help with daily routines, or deliver wellness supplies.
- Offer emotional support and simple physical exercises or activities based on need.
- Plan or join local and online fundraising activities to support free health services and outreach kits.
- Help write stories, take photos, or design campaigns to raise awareness and support.
Who Can Join?
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who are:
- Pre-med and medical students
- Nursing or public health students/professionals
- Social workers or caregivers
- Anyone passionate about community service
Note: Volunteers in clinical roles must be licensed and provide valid credentials.
Where you’ll Work
You could be placed in:
- Urban informal settlements with limited health services
- Remote villages where mobile clinics are conducted
- Community schools, local health centers, or home visits
Placements are based on your background, interests, and the community’s needs.

Description
The A'ray Justice and Peace Initiative (TAJPI) is a Tanzanian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting justice, peace, and environmental conservation. Established in October 2013 as a traditional tribunal, TAJPI transitioned to an NGO on April 1, 2019.
