Mission Statement
It is all about Health and Dignity, PERIOD!
Description
At Period Kits NC, we believe that no one should have to choose between food and period products. Access to menstrual supplies is not just a necessity, it is a matter of dignity, health, and equity. Yet, for too many in our community, period poverty creates barriers to education, work, and daily life.
Our journey began when our founder, who grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina, returned home and saw the same struggles she faced as young girl still affecting others. In 2023, she launched Period Kits NC to fill a critical gap in menstrual support, ensuring that students and individuals in need never have to go without essential products.
Our team is diverse and deeply connected to the mission. Many of us have experienced period poverty firsthand, some have faced homelessness, and two of our team members are veterans. We understand what it means to go without, and we are committed to making sure no one in our community has to experience that struggle alone.
Since launching, we have provided thousands of kits across North Carolina, working hand-in-hand with schools, community colleges, and local organizations to make period products available without shame or stigma. But our mission goes beyond distribution. We are fostering open conversations about menstrual health, advocating for systemic change, and breaking down the barriers that keep people from fully participating in their education and daily lives.
