About Us:
Project Root Support is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to providing mental health support to humanitarian aid workers, especially those working with refugees. Our mission is to enhance the mental well-being of these workers by offering accessible mental health resources, guidance, and support.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to help manage and expand our online presence on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. In addition to regular content creation, the intern will play a key role in researching fundraising opportunities and promoting our campaigns. Given the focus on mental health, candidates with relevant experience in this sector are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, schedule, and post content on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Develop strategies to increase our social media following and engage our audience.

  • Research and identify potential fundraising opportunities for the NGO.

  • Promote fundraising campaigns, events, and organisational updates through social platforms.

  • Research and share mental health tips, resources, and awareness, particularly related to the mental well-being of humanitarian workers.

  • Monitor and engage with followers, responding to messages and comments in a supportive manner.

  • Track and analyze social media metrics to improve content performance.

  • Stay up to date with social media trends to keep our content engaging and relevant.

  • Assist in marketing initiatives and awareness campaigns.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in, or possessing, a degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.

  • Passion for mental health advocacy and understanding of related topics.

  • Experience or interest in researching fundraising opportunities or grants.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and their best practices.

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create thoughtful and engaging content.

  • Experience with social media management tools is a plus.

  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva) for creating visual content.

  • Ability to work independently and with attention to detail.

  • Interest in supporting humanitarian workers and promoting mental health awareness.

Who are we?

We are a non-profit organisation that specialises in the mental health of humanitarian aid workers. Our mission is to provide long-term sustainable counselling and psychotherapy to volunteers and staff of humanitarian organisations. We believe in supporting those who are supporting others.

What do we do?

We provide direct, one-to-one, psychotherapy sessions to humanitarians. Our counsellors and therapists are specifically trained in the mental health issues that humanitarian aid workers are more likely to face, specifically burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. We maintain confidentiality and work discreetly, providing support throughout each person’s journey through the humanitarian sector.
