Chiricahua National Monument is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our team serving visitors at one of Arizona's most remarkable natural treasures. This is your chance to live and work among the stunning "standing up rocks" while helping visitors discover the wonder of this unique landscape.
Position Details:- Role: Visitor Services Volunteer
- Duration: September to January
- Schedule: 32 hours per week (four 8-hour shifts, including weekends)
- Location: Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona
- Welcome and orient visitors at the park visitor center
- Answer questions and provide information about park features, trails, and programs
- Assist with retail operations and cash register sales
- Support day-to-day operations in the visitor center
- Occasionally rove park trails to engage with visitors
- Experience interacting professionally with the public
- Ability to learn and accurately communicate park-specific information
- Comfortable operating a cash register and processing sales transactions
- Punctual, dependable, and capable of following procedures
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for public interaction
- Work is primarily performed inside the visitor center with occasional outdoor activities
- Fall temperatures generally range from 40°F to 85°F with occasional wind and rain
- Winter temperatures typically range from 30°F to 60°F at 5,400 ft elevation
- Outdoor work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions
- Training and appropriate safety guidance will be provided
- Comprehensive training and orientation
- RV campsite with full hookups ( Wi-Fi service, electricity, water, and sewage)
- Laundry facilities available on site
- Landline telephone access
- A supportive team environment in a stunning natural setting
- RV sites located in beautiful Bonita Canyon Campground at 5,400 feet elevation
- Sites accommodate RVs or vehicles + campers up to 29 feet
- Full hookups (electricity, water, and sewage)
- Wi-Fi service and landline telephone available
- Cell phone coverage is limited within the park
- Nearby communities for supplies and services include Willcox (35 miles) and Tucson (120 miles)
Nestled in southeastern Arizona, Chiricahua National Monument preserves the eroded remains of an ancient volcanic eruption. The monument features spectacular rock formations, diverse wildlife, and over 17 miles of hiking trails through a beautiful oak-pine forest along Bonita Creek.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Volunteers are required to wear an official volunteer uniform with a name tag
- Volunteers will be provided with a set of shirts and a jacket
- Volunteers must provide their own pants in black, brown, tan, or green colors (blue jeans and leggings are not permitted)
- Closed-toe shoes required when on duty
