Scholar and a Dream is seeking an enthusiastic Program Coordinator (Volunteer) to join our team! We are a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of minority students through scholarship, career development, and mentorship.

Project Dream is a comprehensive college and career development program designed by Scholar and A Dream Inc., for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) NYC public high school students entering the 11th grade. Our overarching mission is to address and bridge the educational and career achievement gaps by offering students the essential exposure to knowledge, skills, and support required to embark on meaningful post-secondary pathways.

Role Overview:

The volunteer Program Coordinator will oversee the planning and execution of Project Dream’s activities on a part-time basis. This role involves organizing program workshops, and ensuring the program's effective delivery to meet the needs of our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management:
    • Develop and maintain the program schedule, coordinating monthly workshops and mentorship sessions.
    • Manage logistics for monthly workshops, including scheduling, and material preparation.
    • Ensure smooth operation of monthly enrichment programs and mentorship meetings.
  • Student Support:
    • Track student progress and engagement, ensuring they meet program milestones.
    • Provide guidance and resources on college admissions, financial aid, and career planning.
    • Conduct follow-up sessions to address students’ questions and challenges.
    • Support with engagement of Scholar and A Dream’s alumni scholars.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and participant outcomes.
    • Prepare reports on program performance and participant feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’ s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in program coordination, educational or youth development settings is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with diverse populations.
  • Passion for educational equity and supporting BIPOC students.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 10-12 hours per week, with flexibility depending on program needs.
  • Availability for evening workshops and occasional weekend events as required.
