A friend for an Architect with Alzheimer's

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: ALZHEIMERS SUPPORT NETWORK INC

Come visit a resident of Naples Green Village. He is nonverbal, so the volunteer wil end up bringing most of the energy to the table.

This resident was an aritect and he loves theatre. He used to help with set design for theatre plays. He loves to smile, but he does not speak. He would love for you to read plays to him, or talk to him about theatre. You can bring in some architecture books to look at with him. Just come in for an hour every week and make him smile!

Please reach out if you want a weekly volunteer position that is flexible. We put you in contact with a family member so you can let them know of your volunteer service every weekif that is something you are comfortable with. The family will typically introduce you to their loved one who you will visit. They appreciate this service immeasurabley, as many family members feel a lot of guilt for leaving their loved ones with dementia in communities even though they have supported them for as long as they physically and emotionally could. You visiting would help them feel more at peace with their decision.

About ALZHEIMERS SUPPORT NETWORK INC

Location:

1421 PINE RIDGE RD STE 100, NAPLES, FL 34109, US

Mission Statement

Easing the lives of care partners (caregivers) and enriching the lives of people living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of neurodegeneration.

Description

Alzheimer's Support Network is a nonprofit serving Naples, Golden Gate, Bonita Springs and Estero. We envision a world where everyone with Alzheimer's within our community has purpose and meaning in their lives and their care partners are supported and able to provide compassionate care. We serve over 5,600 families with support groups, educational training, personal counseling, professional referral services, crisis management, and enrichment and engagement opportunities. We invite you to step into the world of people with brain change and experience life through their eyes as a volunteer. We offer volunteer opportunities within our support groups and during our engagement opportunities. Our enrichment and engagement experiences are created in partnership with organizations like Naples Botanical Gardens, PGA Tour Superstore, Wonder Gardens, and Shy Wolf Sanctuary, where volunteers and people with brain change can work together at a site that incites passion in the person with brain change.
