Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Sirovich Center for Balanced Living

Educational Alliance invites you to experience the vibrant creativity and cultural contributions of older New Yorkers during the fourth annual CelebratEArts Festival. CelebratEArts, a month-long arts festival held in May, is part of our broader celebration of Older Americans Month, an initiative dedicated to combating ageism and honoring contributions across generations.

Our Mainstage Preformance is a vibrant lineup of acting, singing, dancing, storytelling, comedy, and music, performed by older New Yorkers and our Ageless Arts intergenerational classes. A reception with live music and light refreshments will follow in the 14Y Lobby- and that's where you come in!

We are seeking help with registering and ushering guests as they arrive, as well as support with setting up refreshment tables, organizing the display of refreshments. and help with light clean up afterward.

Description

For over 130 years, Educational Alliance has remained a constant for the residents of Lower Manhattan in the ever-evolving city of New York. The Sirovich Center is part of our Older Adult Services (OAS) division, a comprehensive services model that supports and advances the healthy aging of nearly 10,000 older New Yorkers annually. Our OAS locations also include the Weinberg Center for Balanced Living, Project ORE, and Co-Op Village NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities). The Sirovich Center for Balanced Living of Educational Alliance is the second-oldest center of its kind in New York City.

The William I. Sirovich Memorial Association was founded in April 1947 by the Sirovich family "to provide a center for the older person where [they] can find companionship, and an opportunity for continuing [their] life-long interests and for developing new ones." Since its conception more than 75 years ago, Sirovich Center has implemented various arts, education, nutrition, and health programming with the aim of furthering Dr. Sirovich’s mission to improve the lives of older adults living and working in New York City.
