Volunteer Graphic Designer - Membership Program Redesign
Organization: National Center for Science Education (NCSE)
Location: Remote (virtual team across the U.S.)
Timeframe: Immediate start; project completed by June 30, 2025
Commitment: Flexible hours to meet project milestones. Point of contact is on eastern time and works part-time primarily Monday-Thursday.
The National Center for Science Education defends and promotes accurate, effective science education in public schools. We’re a small but mighty virtual team passionate about ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to engage with evidence-based science.
Role OverviewWe’re seeking a talented Volunteer Graphic Designer to help reimagine and refresh our membership program’s visual identity. Your designs will support NCSE’s mission by creating on‑brand materials that resonate with current and prospective members.
Key ResponsibilitiesNotecards: Conceptualize and design thank-you and outreach notecards for mailing and digital use
Membership Cards: Develop a cohesive membership card template (print‑ready and digital formats)
Stickers: Create sticker artwork suitable for membership giveaway items.
Branded Promotional Items: Provide mockups or print‑ready art for items such as t-shirts (secondary priority)
Design Expertise: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or equivalent tools
Brand Sensitivity: Ability to translate NCSE’s mission-promoting and defending evidence‑based science-into engaging visuals
Attention to Detail: Strong typographic, color‑theory, and layout skills
Communication: Comfortable collaborating virtually, taking feedback, and iterating quickly
Portfolio: Demonstrated experience in branding, print collateral, and promotional‑item design
Impactful Work: Your designs will directly support science educators and students nationwide
Flexible Collaboration: Contribute on your schedule alongside a passionate, remote team
Creative Freedom: Shape the look and feel of our reimagined membership experience
