About NuWave Community Media
NuWave is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering youth, families, and underserved communities through media production and digital literacy. We blend storytelling with education to foster safe, informed digital experiences, and help bridge the digital divide with programs in digital wellness and community media.
Our mission is to provide resources and creative outlets that not only connect people but teach vital skills for navigating the digital world-safely, creatively, and confidently.
Who I Am
I’m Julian Reed, Executive Director of NuWave Community Media. For years, I’ve personally funded this initiative, pouring my heart into its growth. As I return to full-time work to continue supporting our mission, I’m seeking a development partner to help shape and build the educational backbone of our programs-someone to collaborate on the curriculum that will teach our community the essential skills they need to thrive in a digital-first world.
The Role: Curriculum Developer Partner (Volunteer)
We’re looking for a dedicated, creative individual to work as a core partner in designing and developing NuWave’s curriculum for our digital literacy and media programs. You’ll play a key role in:
Curriculum Design: Developing engaging, educational materials for digital literacy, media production, and online safety programs
Program Planning: Collaborating on lesson plans, learning outcomes, and teaching tools
Adapting to Audience Needs: Ensuring our curriculum is accessible, inclusive, and tailored to the needs of youth, families, and underserved communities
Partnership Development: Partnering with me to refine our overall educational strategy and contribute to long-term growth
This is a remote opportunity, with the flexibility to work around your schedule. Our work is project-based, so time commitment is flexible and adaptable to your availability.
Who You Are
You don’t need a degree, but experience in curriculum design, education, or program development is highly valued. You should have a strong understanding of educational best practices and be ready to help create content that is both informative and engaging. You must be comfortable working independently while also being an integral part of our collaborative team.
If you’re passionate about education, media, and making a real difference, this is your chance to help us shape the future of our programming and build something that lasts.

Mission Statement
NuWave Media provides diverse communities with open access to opportunities in New Media and Marketing, who are in pursuit of academic, career, and lifelong learning goals. NuWave is guided by a shared vision and values, commitment to engagement, learning, and achievement, and offers skills that prepare the community for a productive future
Description
New media is the demand of the new age. Individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs who have adopted new concepts have an edge and are already capitalized on this idea. And by reinforcing projects and brands with new media and other marketing tactics, they have experienced a stronger impact and greater reach to their target audiences.
We provide a space for students and the community, where they can get hands-on experience on media, new media, and apply other marketing techniques to projects, through training, mentorship, and experiential peer-to-peer learning. NuWave members will be active learners and will be responsible for creating and assessing short and long-term project goals. They will experience the process of working with a team, generating ideas, meeting deadlines, generating concepts, analyzing target audiences, recording, editing, sound engineering, and learning to be effective and skilled communicators and critical thinkers.
