About NuWave Community Media
NuWave is a nonprofit media and education initiative using storytelling, technology, and community-centered programming to uplift, inform, and protect. We operate at the intersection of audio production, digital literacy, and public wellness-producing award-winning podcasts while also building tools and curricula to help communities safely navigate the digital world.
Whether we’re amplifying local voices through youth-led media or guiding elders through online safety workshops, our mission is the same: empower people with the tools to express themselves, stay safe, and stay connected in a rapidly changing digital age.
Who I Am
I’m Julian Reed, Executive Director and audio producer behind shows like Beatz Community Voices and Mixed by Gen Z. I've personally sustained NuWave’s work financially, believing deeply in its power. As I return to full-time work to continue funding and supporting the organization, I’m looking for someone to come onboard as more than just a volunteer-someone ready to step into a NuWave development partner role and help shape our future from the inside out.
The Role: Grant Writing & Budget Strategy Partner (Volunteer Partnership)
We're looking for a mission-driven, collaborative individual to join us as a core development partner-not a founder, but someone who will play a major role in NuWave’s next chapter. You’ll lead or co-lead in:
Grant Writing: Researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to support NuWave’s dual mission of media and education
Budget Development: Creating clear, funder-ready budgets for grants and programmatic planning
Funding Strategy: Working together on a roadmap to transition this into a fully funded role
Team Collaboration: Working closely with me while also being comfortable taking initiative and moving independently on tasks
This is a remote opportunity, flexible to your schedule. We operate on a project-by-project basis, so your time commitment can flex around your availability and focus areas.
Who You Are
You don’t need to be traditional. You do need to be committed, creative, and community-minded. Whether your strengths are in writing, budgeting, or nonprofit strategy, we’re looking for someone who’s excited to build-not just support-something meaningful. This is a partnership with real impact.
Let’s Talk
If you’re ready to co-create a nonprofit that blends media, education, and community care-NuWave might be your place. Let’s connect.

Mission Statement
NuWave Media provides diverse communities with open access to opportunities in New Media and Marketing, who are in pursuit of academic, career, and lifelong learning goals. NuWave is guided by a shared vision and values, commitment to engagement, learning, and achievement, and offers skills that prepare the community for a productive future
Description
New media is the demand of the new age. Individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs who have adopted new concepts have an edge and are already capitalized on this idea. And by reinforcing projects and brands with new media and other marketing tactics, they have experienced a stronger impact and greater reach to their target audiences.
We provide a space for students and the community, where they can get hands-on experience on media, new media, and apply other marketing techniques to projects, through training, mentorship, and experiential peer-to-peer learning. NuWave members will be active learners and will be responsible for creating and assessing short and long-term project goals. They will experience the process of working with a team, generating ideas, meeting deadlines, generating concepts, analyzing target audiences, recording, editing, sound engineering, and learning to be effective and skilled communicators and critical thinkers.
