Are you detail-oriented and financially savvy? Do you want to use your skills to make a meaningful impact? My Father’s House, a nonprofit supporting individuals reentering the community after incarceration, is seeking a volunteer to help us keep our financial records organized and up-to-date.

We’re looking for someone with experience in bookkeeping or accounting-ideally with knowledge of nonprofit financial practices, though this is not required. Whether you’re a retired CPA, a part-time bookkeeper, or someone with a strong grasp of financial basics who’s eager to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Recording and categorizing transactions
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Assisting with monthly reports and financial statements
  • Supporting the preparation of annual budgets or audits
  • Helping maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (if experienced)

Qualifications:

  • Experience with bookkeeping and/or accounting (QuickBooks or similar software a plus)
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and basic financial reports
  • A commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
  • Willingness to collaborate with our Executive Director and growing team
  • Passion for MFH’s mission and the community we serve

Time Commitment:
Flexible-estimated 3-6 hours per week, depending on your availability and interest level. This could be a short-term or ongoing role.

We’re a small but committed team, and we deeply value the contributions of our volunteers. If you want to make a difference behind the scenes, this is a great way to do it.

To Apply:
Email Jim Blum at jim@myfathershousedenver.org with a brief note about your background and interest in this role. We’d love to set up a quick call to connect.

About MY FATHERS HOUSE INC

Location:

PO BOX 441491, AURORA, CO 80044, US

Mission Statement

My Father's House is a prison reentry nonprofit that provides transitional housing, job placement assistance, life-skills training, and a supportive community to men on so they can lead whole and productive lives.

Description

Organizational Background

My Father’s House was founded by Jim Blum in December 2017. Jim spent many years incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections, during which time he developed a desire to help others through ministry. Having made a successful transition on parole with the support of family and friends, he understands first-hand the challenges men face as they move forward with their lives. He founded MFH to provide the same kind of support he received to others in less fortunate circumstances.

Goals

My Father's House is a nonprofit transitional housing community for men on parole; seeking to offer them safe, decent, affordable housing and a community of support. We believe these services are vital, because we know that stability factors such as secure shelter and a sense of belonging are basic, but major contributors to a person's sense of well-being and ability to function at a higher cognitive level in order to acquire new skill sets and positive, healthy ways of thinking.
