Foster Care Givers
ORGANIZATION: PALS ANIMAL LIFE SAVERS
Please visit the new page to apply.
When you foster, you agree to take a homeless cat into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the cat is adopted.
Fostering a cat is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home, you’re:
- Freeing up a spot so the shelter or rescue can take in another cat.
- Give your foster cat the time he needs to be ready for adoption.
- Helping the shelter or rescue learn more about the cat so he can end up in the best home possible.
- Socializing the cat with a home environment and possibly getting him used to being around other pets and different types of people.

Mission Statement
Founded in 1995 as Friends of Peabody Animal Rescue and Shelter, PALS Animal Life Savers (PALS) is a no-kill, all-volunteer feline rescue group committed to the well-being of local cats. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to uphold high standards of animal care while finding loving, permanent homes for stray, abandoned, neglected, abused or surrendered felines. We rescue, foster, feed, clean, socialize and provide medical care for our cats.
Description
PALS now serves communities primarily, but not exclusively north of Boston, from our Adoption Center in the PetSmart store in Salem, Massachusetts where potential adopters can meet the available cats and kittens. Because this is our only facility, we also rely on a network of foster homes and rescuers. As the only all-volunteer shelter in our area dedicated specifically to these local cats we take pride in our unique approach to rescue and adoption. We believe every cat deserves a second chance and we work tirelessly to make that happen.
As a 501(c) (3) organization, PALS relies solely on the financial support and generosity of individuals, local businesses and PetSmart Charities to help rescue and find homes for approximately 200 cats each year. All of the cats and kittens at our Adoption Center are spay/neutered, micro-chipped, flea-treated, vaccinated as appropriate, and tested for FeLV/FIV.
