Green River Lakes Campground Ambassador
ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
We are actively recruiting a campground ambassador for The Green River Lakes Campground. The Campground, Lodge and Trailhead are located 52 miles northwest of Pinedale on a scenic glacial lake which borders the Bridger Wilderness. This is a remote location, with approximately 20 miles of unpaved road to travel to reach the Campground.
A camping ambassador is someone who provides visitors with education, information and keeps an eye on overall conditions of the area. They greet campers, ensure they are staying in a designated site, and provide them with information on how to camp responsibly: proper food storage in bear country, respecting stay limits, paying campground fees, remembering to put out fires, pack out trash and dispose of human waste properly. Other duties include checking fire-rings for abandoned campfires and communicating area-specific needs and issues to a Forest Service supervisor.
Couples are welcome to apply, per diem reimbursement is available to those who qualify, and start/end dates are somewhat flexible. You must have your own RV or trailer for this volunteer opportunity and be comfortable driving down rough, unpaved roads. There are no hook-ups available at this campground, but there are vault toilets and potable water available. Volunteers typically travel to Pinedale once a week, or bi-weekly, to buy groceries, do laundry, etc. The town of Pinedale has all the amenities you might need, including a grocery store, post office, many restaurants, a recreation center, laundromat, and a recently-built hospital.
