Rooftop Films is looking for Volunteers!
This summer, we are screening over 40 films as a part of our 29th Anniversary Summer Series, all of which will be shown outdoors (all over the city!) from May through August - and we will need a team of great volunteers to assist us!
As a Rooftop Films Volunteer, you’ll get to:
- Watch amazing films
- Have access to Q&As with filmmakers and actors
- Hear great music
- Attend our after parties
- Connect with festival staff and learn about the inner workings of film festivals
- Earn valuable experience for your resume
- Meet lots of new and interesting people!
Volunteers assist with event set-up, greeting and assisting patrons, and a variety of other tasks. Volunteers can help out at as many or as few shows as they are available for.
Every volunteer who works at 10 events this summer can become a free Friend of Rooftop Member (our highest level membership) for the next season! It comes with lots of great perks, so check out all of the membership details here: https://rooftopfilms.com/memberships/

Rooftop Films is a non-profit organization whose mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, producing new films, teaching filmmaking to young people, and renting low-cost equipment to artists and non-profits. At Rooftop Films, we bring underground movies outdoors But Rooftop Films is more than a film festival. We are a community. We are a collective collaboration between filmmakers and festivals, between audience members and artists, between venues and neighborhoods. Our goal is to nurture a vibrant independent filmmaking community not only by exhibiting the work of low-budget filmmakers but also by providing essential support systems for those who otherwise have none. Description
Rooftop Films is known internationally as one of the most dynamic film festivals in the world. In 2009, we will screen more than 20 feature films, almost all of which are New York, U.S. or World Premieres. We'll also show over 150 short films in themed programs which have received accolades for being smart, entertaining, and filled with astonishing movies. This combination of brilliant, original programming and stunning outdoor venues makes Rooftop Films one of the best-attended film festivals in New York. At Rooftop Films, we bring the underground outdoors.
