We are seeking an Ecologist intern to join our conservation project team. This internship is open to seniors in high school or above, with a preference for undergraduates studying Ecology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
As an Ecologist intern, you will support the team in gathering ecological data, conducting assessments, and helping develop conservation strategies. Your work will focus on analyzing biodiversity, identifying ecological challenges, and contributing to the ecological components of the conservation plan.
This is an unpaid internship, requiring 4-5 hours per week over 2-3 months. You will collaborate with GIS specialists, community liaisons, and project leaders to complete the ecological assessments for the creation of a Conservation Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in gathering ecological data and conducting site assessments.
- Contribute to the analysis of native plant and animal species, biodiversity, and existing threats (e.g., invasive species).
- Collaborate on the development of ecosystem preservation strategies.
- Support the team in refining ecological goals and objectives for the conservation plan.
Ideal Candidate:
- Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of ecological assessment techniques and data collection methods.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Interest in biodiversity, conservation, and ecosystem preservation.

Description
Launching in January 2022, the Green Crew is a unique collaboration between the Izaak Walton League and the BSA venturing program. We sponsor 1 or 2 environmental adventures per month. These adventures have been designed, planned, and implemented by youth. Adults serve as consultants and advisors.
