Recruiting Organization: Harvest Home Farmers Market
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: [e.g., 5-10 hours/month]
Reports To: Executive Director
About Us:
Harvest Home Farmer’s Market (HHFM) is committed to increasing access to healthy, affordable, and locally grown food in low-income communities. Through initiatives like our Eating for Good Health program, we empower individuals and families to make healthier food choices while supporting local farmers. As part of our growth, HHFM is seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to serve as Volunteer Board Advisors.
Problem Statement:
In many low-income communities, access to healthy, affordable food remains a significant challenge. Food insecurity, lack of access to fresh produce, and limited nutritional education disproportionately affect these populations. At Harvest Home Farmers Market, we are committed to bridging this gap by providing access to fresh, locally grown food and nutrition education. However, as we expand our programs and services, we need expert guidance to help us grow and sustain our impact in the communities we serve.
Our Approach:
Through programs like Eating for Good Health, Food Distribution, and Farmers Markets, we are working to empower individuals and families with the tools and knowledge to make healthier food choices while supporting local farmers. We are continually exploring innovative ways to improve our services and ensure that we are meeting the needs of the communities we serve. As a Volunteer Board Advisor, your role will be crucial in helping us refine our approach, strategize for sustainable growth, and connect with new funding and partnership opportunities.
Position Overview:
As a Volunteer Board Advisor, you will provide valuable insights and expertise to guide the strategic direction of our organization. Unlike Board Members, Board Advisors do not have fiduciary responsibilities or voting power but play a crucial advisory role. Your input will help strengthen our operations and contribute to impactful decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance on funding opportunities and community engagement.
- Offer advice on specific programs or initiatives based on your expertise.
- Serve as a sounding board for the Executive Director and Board members.

- A passion for HHFM’s mission and a commitment to social equity, particularly in food access and justice.
Benefits:
- Contribute to a cause that directly impacts the health and well-being of underserved communities.
- Expand your network through connections with board members, community leaders, and organizations.
- Gain experience in nonprofit leadership and governance.
