Please visit the new page to apply.
Join us for a rewarding volunteer event at Salt River Bay as we plant mangroves to help restore and revitalize our coastal ecosystem! On April 22nd, we invite community members, families, and environmental enthusiasts to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty in this vital conservation effort. Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting shorelines, improving water quality, and providing habitat for diverse wildlife.
When: Tuesday, April 22nd, from 8:00 AM to 11 AM. Everyone is to gather at Christiansted National Historic Site at 8:00 AM, in order to caravan to the site. If individuals want to drive separately or meet at the site, please email kristen_ewen@nps.gov for directions.
Where: Salt River Bay NHP and EP.
Our Goal: NPS staff and volunteers will work together to plant mangroves at two priority restoration sites in Salt River Bay. Be prepared to get a little muddy!
Registration: Sign up today! Don't forget to register below to secure your attendance and receive extra information!
Please make sure you bring water, snacks, sun protection, and close-toed shoes that can get wet (avoid flip flops and slides, they can make you experience more difficult). There will be water coolers available to refill water bottles.
By participating, you'll not only contribute to the health of Salt River Bay but also learn about the importance of these incredible trees in combating climate change and supporting biodiversity. Together, let’s create a greener future and ensure that our beautiful coastal environment thrives for generations to come!
