Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Join us at Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens from 10am to 12pm! We’ll be removing woody invasive shrubs in the park to make room for native flora and fauna.

Park at the parking lot on Deane Ave NE near Kenilworth Track, then walk to the dirt path that leads to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail to meet a representative from the NPS Invasive Plant Management Team. No skills or prior knowledge are required for these events.

Volunteers who sign up will receive an email with further details about the event 48 hours prior to its start. If you are under 18 or plan to bring someone who is under 18 to the event, please contact the site contact ahead of time. Any attendees at this event who are under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Notes:

Tools and gloves are provided, but feel free to bring your own. Be prepared to use hand saws and loppers to cut large branches.

Bring snacks and water.

Wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and long sleeves that you don’t mind getting dirty.

If you plan to drive to this event, you can park in the parking lot along Deane Ave NE. If you plan to take public transport to the event, the meeting spot is a 20-minute walk from the Minnesota Avenue Metro and a 10-minute walk from the U7 bus line stop on Jay St NE.
