90-Day In-Person Internship | Based in Decatur, GA | Commission & Paid Project Opportunities Available

Overview:
The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is looking for a creative and passionate Photography Intern to join our team in person at our headquarters in Decatur, Georgia. This is a valuable opportunity for a new or early-career photographer to gain hands-on experience, build a powerful portfolio, and grow lasting relationships within the nonprofit sector-while also being eligible for paid assignments and commission-based projects.

You’ll play a key role in capturing the energy, mission, and people behind AAWTA’s work, helping to visually tell the stories of African American women in the trucking industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Photograph AAWTA events, workshops, and community programs

  • Capture both candid and posed images of members, volunteers, and partners

  • Edit and organize high-quality photos for social media, digital campaigns, and promotional materials

  • Collaborate with the communications and branding team to align with AAWTA’s visual identity

  • Provide photography support for press kits, newsletters, blog posts, and sponsorship materials

  • Contribute to a professional image archive that reflects AAWTA’s brand and impact.

  • Local event (VIP & Interview capture

Ideal Candidate:

  • A beginner or emerging photographer building their professional portfolio

  • Comfortable working in dynamic, people-centered settings

  • Owns a camera and has basic editing skills (Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Dependable, creative, and team-oriented

  • Passionate about visual storytelling, community impact, and diversity
