Overview:
The Media Intern will support the communications and outreach efforts of AAWTA by creating compelling, mission-aligned content that raises awareness, drives engagement, and promotes the stories of African American women in the trucking and transportation industry. This role is ideal for a creative, self-motivated individual passionate about media, digital storytelling, and social impact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in developing and scheduling content for AAWTA’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)

  • Capture and edit video clips and reels from events, interviews, or virtual meetings

  • Support the production of digital campaigns and promotional graphics using Canva or similar design tools

  • Help write and edit content for newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and internal updates

  • Organize and maintain AAWTA’s media archive and digital asset library

  • Collaborate with team leads and members to develop visual content that supports ongoing programs, fundraisers, and events

  • Help increase creative exposure for members through storytelling and branded content opportunities

  • Monitor social media trends and offer creative ideas for increasing community engagement and visibility

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and trends

  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite a plus)

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Interest in social justice, storytelling, community development, or nonprofit work

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
