A talented and creative individual is needed to design a cartoon animation for the 2025 Ruey Classic, a memorial basketball game which honors the life and memory of SoulPhamm’s Co-Founder, Coach Luis Herrera who passed away suddenly in 2021. Coach Lou (and his widow Mz. Doc) love to showcase the talents and skills of not only young people, but community members as well. We once solicited the services of a volunteer who designed a wonderful cartoon that we showcased at the Classic and across all of our social media channels. The cartoon was so well received, that we decided to make this a Ruey Classic tradition.

The cartoon will "live" on our website and also be uploaded to our social media channels (with credit to the creator) (YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook). The strongest candidate will be able to show us samples of their previous work and should be able to "turn around" the finished product by June 7th. In addition to using the product for the artist’s personal portfolio, we would be pleased to serve as a professional reference for as long as the artist needs.

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
