Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is a 131-year-old settlement house wiedly recognzied as one of New York's premier human services providers. Founded in 1894 as a free kindergardten for immigrant children, the Neighborhood House now serves 16,000 people in need each year through a variety of effective and integrated services--social, educational, legal, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness.
We are seeking friendly volunteers with good interpersonal skills to staff one of our Older Adult Centers, on either East 54th or East 70th Street, in Manhattan. Volunteers will provide visitors with important information about daily center activities, check members in for meals and facilitate new members joining the centers. Weekly shifts of 2-4 hours are available mornings, afternoons and early evenings.

Description
Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
