Role SummaryDestiel is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven volunteer DEI Director to lead and implement the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) pillar of our organization. This role is responsible for designing, managing, and expanding DEI initiatives across Destiel’s programs, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and equity in everything we do.
The DEI Director will oversee DEI-focused initiatives, facilitate training programs, and build partnerships with businesses, schools, and nonprofits to create safer, more inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those in marginalized communities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead Destiel’s DEI program pillar, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Implement DEI initiatives that enhance inclusivity in Destiel’s operations, programs, and outreach efforts.
- Facilitate training and educational programs on diversity, inclusion, and equity for volunteers, staff, and external partners.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen DEI policies, programming, and community engagement.
- Foster partnerships with organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to expand DEI collaboration.
- Create educational content such as workshops, toolkits, and resources to promote DEI awareness.
- Assess and track the effectiveness of DEI programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles, particularly in LGBTQ+ communities.
- Experience in developing and leading DEI programs, training, or community initiatives.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, driving DEI initiatives forward with minimal supervision.
- Passionate about LGBTQ+ advocacy, inclusion, and equity.
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, training, HR, or community engagement is a plus.
- Commitment of at least 20 hours per week, with regular check-ins and progress reporting.
