Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The Blue Ridge Parkway is recruiting volunteers for a Campground Clean Up Volunteer Workday that will be held at the Mount Pisgah Campground (milepost 408.8) on Saturday May 10th, 2025. The workday will begin at 8:30 am and end at 12:00 pm.

This workday will get the campground and picnic area ready for the opening of the summer season. The volunteers will be using simple lawn-maintenance tools (rake, shovels, loppers and wheelbarrows) to perform the basic maintenance tasks listed below.

Major Duties

• Clear dead and downed limbs and other storm debris from campsites

• Rake Leaves

• Clear Drainage Ditches

• Clean Fire Rings

• Trim bushes and brush with hand tools

Volunteers are asked to bring water and snacks for themselves. Volunteers will need to wear closed toed shoes, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and work gloves. Sunscreen is recommended. The required volunteer service agreements will be signed at the beginning of the session.

Due to damage to the Blue Ridge Parkway from Hurricane Helene blocking the direct access to Mount Pisgah Campground from Asheville to the north, any volunteers attending this workday will need to access Mount Pisgah from the south.
