Do you live by a stream or river? Looking for a way to protect water near you? Once a month, from May to October, our volunteer stream monitors in Dodge/Jefferson County collect data vital to understanding the health of our streams across the Rock River Basin. Data is used by entities involved in the management of our streams and rivers in the Rock River Basin to enhance watershed management decision-making.

Anyone interested in volunteering or learning more is welcome to attend our Watertown workshop! By the end of this workshop, you’ll know how to measure water quality and be ready to adopt your own stream monitoring site. No experience or materials needed!

About ROCK RIVER COALITION INC

Location:

864 COLLINS RD, JEFFERSON, WI 53549, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate and provide opportunities for people of diverse interests to work together to improve environmental, recreational, cultural and economic resources of the Rock River Basin.

Description

Rock River Coalition (RRC) began in 1994 when concerned community members met to bring attention to the Rock River Corridor, particularly around issues of tourism, natural resources, and education. People in their communities united, learned, and became inspired together which led to RRC becoming an incorporated nonprofit 501c3 organization in 1996.

Since then, RRC has continued to expand. In 2002, we added a volunteer stream monitoring program which has trained more than 400 individuals in monitoring water resources; currently 180+ are monitoring wadeable streams in the basin. We provide many ways to engage with the environmental resources of the region. Our stream monitoring program provides data about the water quality and quantity of our water sources. We additionally work with several counties for Aquatic Invasive Species prevention. And we provide educational opportunities for everyone to learn and engage with the environmental resources of the Rock River Basin.
