Building and Strengthening

Bridging Beyond is committed to building empathy and understanding in communities through workshops, strategic initiatives, and collaborative projects.
As our teams and activities grow, strong internal communication becomes essential for aligning teams and ensuring that everyone-from trustees to volunteers-remains updated on our objectives, progress, and milestones.

This role also involves coordinating with external advisors who offer their expertise to guide our programmes and strategies.

As an Internal Communications Associate, you will:

  • Keep Teams Informed - Develop and manage regular updates (e.g., email newsletters, messaging platform announcements, or brief video calls) to share essential information across Bridging Beyond’s various teams.
  • Coordinate Meetings - Arrange and facilitate internal gatherings, such as team syncs and all-hands sessions, as well as external advisor consultations.

  • Craft Clear, Consistent Messaging - Ensure that all communications uphold Bridging Beyond’s values and mission, presenting information in a clear, engaging style.
  • Gather and Share Feedback - Collect input from volunteers, team leads, and external advisors, then communicate relevant insights or action items to the appropriate teams.

  • Document Processes and Updates - Maintain accessible records of meeting notes, decisions, and important organisational developments for future reference.

By bridging communication gaps and organising crucial information, you’ll help everyone at Bridging Beyond stay aligned and focused on our collective mission.

The Communications Team ensures consistent messaging across Bridging Beyond-from internal announcements to community-focused outreach.
As an Internal Communications Associate, you’ll act as a critical link, helping staff, trustees, volunteers, and external advisors stay on the same page about objectives, milestones, and organisational updates.
Your contribution will foster a spirit of transparency and shared purpose throughout Bridging Beyond.

Personal Attributes:

  • Clear Communicator - You excel at conveying ideas in a straightforward, engaging manner, whether over email, in meetings, or through digital tools.
  • Organised and Detail-Oriented - You handle multiple tasks efficiently, track various communication channels, and keep records well-structured.
  • Collaborative and Inclusive - You enjoy working with diverse teams, value different perspectives, and aim to create a culture of openness.
  • Mission-Focused - You resonate with Bridging Beyond’s commitment to reducing division and fostering understanding, and you see strong communication as a driving force behind impactful work.

Skills and Experience:
Communications or Administration - Experience in internal communications, volunteer coordination, or administrative support is beneficial (though not strictly required).

Meeting Coordination - Familiarity with scheduling tools, agenda-setting, and basic facilitation of both virtual and in-person meetings.

Digital Tools Proficiency - Comfortable using collaboration platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft Teams) to keep teams informed and documents organised.

Feedback and Reporting - Ability to gather feedback effectively (via surveys, interviews, or observation) and consolidate it into concise, actionable summaries.
Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to at least six months, contributing approximately 3-5 hours per week. Frequency may fluctuate around major organisational updates or events.

Additional Requirments

Remote Work: Most communication tasks can be completed remotely. A stable internet connection is required for online meetings and digital collaboration.

Meeting Coordination: You will be responsible for scheduling and organising both internal and external advisor meetings, sometimes outside standard office hours to accommodate different schedules.

Information Management: Maintain and share relevant updates in an easily accessible format, promoting transparent communication across teams.

Optional On-Site Involvement: While much of the role is online, you may occasionally join in-person gatherings or strategic planning sessions where in-depth communication is needed. Travel expenses may be covered per our policies.

About Bridging Beyond

Location:

Newington Green Alliance, 128 City Road, London, Greater London EC1V2NX, GB

Mission Statement

We cultivate empathy and understanding across differences.

Description

Our vision
Our vision is to help people live more connected, satisfying, caring lives in community.

Our strategy
To achieve our bold goals, we approach 'bridging’ with a scientific point of view. Our methods are rooted in research showing that empathy is a key driver of social cohesion and trust. By fostering active listening, curiosity, and compassionate dialogue, we help individuals and groups challenge biases, reduce conflict, and build bridges across divides.

Based on the findings of our research team, we have developed a series of workshops with specific methodologies towards building empathy. We are offering these workshops together with strategic partners in different communities based in the London boroughs of Hackney and Islington.

Bridging Beyond is the working name of Newington Green Alliance
