If you love golf, enjoy working with kids, and you are at least 18 years old, you could make a great Watson Links golf mentor. Using the Watson Links web app, prospective golf mentors will register online, complete background screenings, watch a safety and mentor orientation program, and sign up for tee times that meet their schedules. The app will pair vetted mentors with a course-ready junior player, who you will meet at the selected course at the designated tee time. You will be playing nine holes alongside another adult mentor and junior golfer. All free of charge!
Mentors are not instructors. Instead, mentors are positive role models who provide encouragement, share course etiquette, and help instill a love of the game. Kansas City golf mentoring initiatives take place at more than a dozen Kansas City area golf courses. Mentors can sign up according to their schedule; play once or twice a week or just once during the series.
Golf mentors may be scratch golfers or weekend warriors. They just need to have a passion for play and the desire to share it with the next generation of golfers. Why Watson Links? Because every kid deserves a golf mentor!

Description
Golf legend Tom Watson believes golf is good for kids. That’s why he started Watson Links five years ago as a way to support junior golf. He attributes his success on and off the course to the mentors in his life, and would like to provide those same advantages for today’s young players. The mission of Watson Links is to lift up young golfers by breaking down the barriers to golf, such as cost, course access, and game knowledge so that more kids play golf with the guidance of a golf mentor and ultimately, become lifelong players.
Started in Tom Watson's home town, Watson Links now supports golf mentoring initiatives in 17 locations across the United States. Kansas City remains our largest market serving more than 100 junior golfers each season.
After completing a background check and safety orientation, adult volunteer golf mentors will be paired with a course-ready junior golfer to play nine holes of golf free of charge at selected courses across the Kansas City metro. Golf mentors are not instructors, but rather positive role models who help junior golfers become more confident on the course and learn to love the game. They celebrate the wins and shake off the losses. Two juniors and two mentors will comprise the tee times.
