Gideon is an adult man with a developmental disability in his mid-50’s who is seeking a volunteer male friend (age 40-early 60's) in the Friend 2 Friend Community Program. Gideon resides in a staffed residential apartment and lives in an area where he can walk to nearby restaurants and shops. He has a supportive family who live within proximity. He does not take public transportation, but staff can help arrange the RIDE to meet his friend in the community. A reliable and patient volunteer who has access to a car would be ideal. Gideon hopes his friend would help him venture out of his apartment once a month, for two hours, to enjoy music, grab a coffee, enjoy an ice cream cone, take a walk, or do a puzzle together.

The commitment is to meet Gideon for 2 hours, once a month, for a year. No experience with people with disabilities necessary. Matches each pay their share at activities. Every match has a clinical match specialist to provide guidance and support. JBBBS welcomes all demographics. Participants and volunteers are Jewish and non-Jewish. All welcome!
