About Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity
Location:
1530 Greenview Drive SW, Suite 107, Rochester, MN 55902, US
Mission Statement
Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
Description
Affordable housing is defined as spending 30% of your monthly gross income on housing expenses which includes rent AND utilities. With that in mind, did you know that, in 2022, our state ranked #24 in the nation for housing affordability? In Minnesota, the full-time hourly rate needed to afford a two-bedroom apartment at market rate is $22.41.
Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity is working to interrupt generational poverty through affordable homeownership options. Our affiliate is the result of a merger between two neighboring affiliates, Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Steele-Waseca Area. Affiliate staff and the board of director at these affiliates recognized that we could serve more and impact more households by combining our work under one nonprofit organization. This merger was completed in 2018 and we now serve the five counties of Waseca, Steele, Dodge, Olmsted and Wabasha.
With your support and the support of our communities, we raise the funds needed to complete these homes. Homes that are safe, efficient, and affordable. Once completed we then sell these homes, at appraised value, to our partner homebuyers through affordable mortgage financing, often 30-year term mortgages.
