Are you passionate about food justice and supporting your NYC neighbors? Join us for a meaningful volunteer event with Gotham Food Pantry as we collect survey responses during one of our free grocery distribution events.
Volunteers will help administer a short, anonymous survey to community members receiving food. The goal is to collect important data about food access to better understand and serve NYC communities. No prior experience is necessary-training and guidance will be provided on-site
During this volunteer event, tasks may include:
Explaining the survey application and data use
Asking survey questions and recording responses
Instructing respondents on how to complete the survey independently if they choose
Assisting with Spanish/English translation (if bilingual)
This survey will help us demonstrate the need for food pantry services in the neighborhoods we serve. Volunteers who are bilingual in Spanish are especially needed to accommodate the needs of community members and record everyone’s experience.

Mission Statement
Gotham Food Pantry is committed to establishing Food Justice through the five boroughs through a hyper-local, sustainable approach that empowers historically underserved communities.
Description
Gotham Food Pantry is a food justice nonprofit that establishes food rescue operations in communities facing high food insecurity, with a focus on low-income public housing complexes throughout New York City. Founded at the onset of COVID-19 to address the unprecedented food insecurity facing New Yorkers, Gotham Food Pantry's initiatives include establishing community fridges, sourcing food for retailers who historically discard their waste, and promoting wellness events that provide opportunities to historically marginalized communities. Gotham envisions a New York City where food security is a way of life for all citizens. If this vision resonates with you, please join our mission.
