Be a light in someone’s darkness. Join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in supporting the Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday, September 27th, at the Chambers Bay Park in Pierce County - an event dedicated to raising awareness, honoring loved ones, and supporting those affected by suicide.
We’re looking for compassionate volunteers to help make the day impactful and meaningful for participants.
Join the WALK COMMITTE, duties include:
- Monthly event coordination meetings via Goolge Meets (45 min-1hr/month)
- Help fundraise & build walk teams to reach our goal of raising $50,000 for local suicide prevention resources
- Market and share AFSP Walk event flyers (provided by staff)
- Outreach to local business and organizations who may want to be tabling partners
Join our Day of Volunteer Squad, duties include:
- Event setup and cleanup
- Registration and check-in
- Greeters and route cheerleaders
- Water station support
- Table assistance
- Information booth help
Details:
- Date: Saturday, September 27th
- Location: Chambers Bay Park, University Park, WA
- Time Commitment: Flexible shifts available between morning and afternoon
No experience needed-just a heart to help and a willingness to show up.

The grassroots work we do focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide.
The AFSP Washington Chapter brings together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter.
