Join us this Earth Day, April 22, 2025, for a one-day volunteer opportunity to help older adults in need with spring yard cleanup - including raking, weeding, trimming, and more!
In partnership with the Township of West Orange, our nonprofit I Want To Mow Your Lawn - which provides free landscaping support to older adults, veterans, and others in need - is organizing this special Earth Day event. We're calling on volunteers to lend a hand beautifying and clearing outdoor spaces for senior residents in the community.
We'll provide:
- Rakes, garbage bags, garden gloves (if needed), string trimmers, and other basic equipment
- Soft beverages and snacks to keep you fueled throughout the day
Bonus: If you can bring your own equipment (trimmers, mowers), that's always welcome!
Details:
- Meet-up Location: West Orange Town Hall Parking Lot, 66 Main Street, West Orange, NJ
- Time: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Rain Date: April 30, 2025
What to Bring:
- Closed-toed shoes, long sleeves/pants (recommended)
- Gardening gloves (if you have them)
- A positive attitude - and readiness to get a little dirty!
We’ll group up in the morning and then head out to homes in clusters for yard work. It’s a great way to give back, get outside, and make a real impact.
Please sign up here to volunteer and be part of something meaningful this Earth Day!
Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. Please note: Media coverage may be present at this event, with permission-based participation only for any photos or interviews.

Description
I Want To Mow Your Lawn(r) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID: 85-3447661) that connects homeowners in need with a nationwide network of passionate landscaping volunteers. Launched in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we provide completely free lawn care services to seniors over 65, military veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those facing financial challenges, while prioritizing eco-friendly practices and fostering community connection.
Founded by Brian Schwartz after being laid off from his digital advertising job, the initiative began as a way to stay engaged during a difficult time. It has since grown into a thriving platform with over 1,300 volunteers across the USA and even some enlisted in other countries. With their help, we've revitalized countless yards, spreading kindness one lawn at a time.
Thanks to support from leading battery-powered equipment manufacturers and recognition in major media outlets, I Want To Mow Your Lawn(r) has become a growing, trademarked brand. Our mission connects the dots between homeowners and volunteers, offering relief while encouraging neighbors to lend a hand and make a difference. Whether it's trimming, edging, or just showing up to say hello, our volunteers help transform neighborhoods into stronger, greener communities.
Join us in this growing movement. Whether as a volunteer or supporter, your involvement helps us expand our reach and bring smiles to even more homes.
