Volunteers would be given a script and work with a law enforcement/jail officer evaluator to give new law enforcement recruits hands on practice at interacting with the community. There are a variety of roles that volunteers could be involved in. This works best with a diverse group of volunteers that are of a variety of ages and abilities.

About RAPPAHANNOCK REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE FOUNDATION

Location:

3630 LEE HILL DR, Fredericksburg, FREDERICKSBRG, VA 22408, US

Mission Statement

The Foundation exists to provide support for the training of law enforcement and regional jail officers, as well as communication officers for the 42 member agencies of the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. The goal for volunteers is to provide realistic role-playing for training recruits. Under what better circumstances can you say you've been arrested several times in a day and had fun doing it?

Description

The Foundation was established in 2016 to support the goals of the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy, one of eleven state certified regional academies in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Small fundraising endeavors have allowed the Foundation to provide items to make the recruits Academy experience more comfortable. This includes renovating classrooms, purchasing water bottle filling stations, sponsoring Lunch and Learn sessions, and replacing an aging refrigerator with a commercial fridge. The Foundation also sponsors the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service to remember officers who have died in the line of duty, and 2 blood drives through the year. This year, the Foundation entered a major fundraising campaign to help offset the cost of necessary updates to the Academy facilities.
