Van Trip Companion & Day Excursion Assistant

Do you enjoy helping others and going on fun day trips? The Groveland COA is seeking friendly and reliable volunteers to join our van excursions as a Trip Companion & Assistant. This person will act as the point person for the group-providing light assistance, helping fellow riders (up to 14) stay safe and informed, and ensuring the day runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet participants and help create a welcoming group atmosphere
Assist fellow riders with trip logistics, such as:
Navigating museum ticket kiosks
Finding accessible entrances
Locating nearby restaurants or restrooms
Help the driver by being a second set of eyes and ears-ensuring all participants are accounted for and safe
Carry a trip packet (provided) with itinerary, contact numbers, and any special instructions
Communicate with COA staff if concerns arise during the day
Time Commitment:
One-day commitment per trip. You choose the trip(s) that work for you!
Typical hours are 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, but vary slightly depending on destination. Van
Parking for the day:
All van trips depart from and return to Groveland Town Hall (183 Main Street, Groveland, MA). Free parking is available at Town Hall-you’re welcome to leave your car in the lot for the day.

Friendly, helpful, and comfortable interacting with older adults
Able to walk moderate distances and stand for short periods
Comfortable using a cell phone for basic communication or directions
Calm, patient, and resourceful when unexpected things come up
