Summary: The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance (EMIA) stands at the forefront of utilizing the global capital markets to strengthen governance and sustainability in developing nations. As a premier non-profit organization, EMIA empowers large, institutional investors to s upport publicly listed companies and national governments in emerging markets in tackling pressing challenges. We invite an exceptional volunteer C-level executive to join our dynamic, high-performing team in a part-time, virtual capacity. This is an extraordinary opportunity to catalyze EMIA's growth and amplify its impact by designing innovative systems and processes that drive scalability and effectiveness.

The Organization: Based in New York City, EMIA is a distinguished 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to advancing governance and sustainability practices among leading institutional investors. We convene the world’s foremost corporate and public policy experts, institutional investors, and government representatives to foster a collaborative dialogue aimed at embedding best practices in sustainability and governance. Our initiatives have made substantial strides in critical areas such as governance, transparency, anti-corruption, climate action, human rights, and more. EMIA is one of the few organizations pioneering efforts to engage institutional investors in public markets, making a tangible difference on vital global issues impacting developing countries.

The Role: We are seeking a visionary volunteer C-level executive who will play a pivotal role in shaping EMIA's future. This part-time, virtual position offers the flexibility to tailor responsibilities to suit the right candidate's expertise. Potential areas of focus may include overseeing technology, information systems, and operational frameworks. The successful candidate will lead initiatives such as:

- Guiding the technology, operations, and communications teams towards excellence.
- Enhancing the user experience of our investor interaction tracking website.
- Producing comprehensive reports that synthesize data on investor c ollaboration with governments and companies.
- Designing and implementing systems to monitor EMIA’s activities and measure impact effectively.
- Strengthening investor relationships through advanced CRM software utilization.
- Developing training programs for new staff and establishing a robust human resources function.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess substantial C-level experience (CIO, CTO, COO, CEO) in technology, information systems, and/or operations-preferably within a start-up or growth-focused organization. We welcome individuals who are semi-retired, seeking to re-enter the workforce gradually, or those desiring flexible roles to balance personal commitments. The perfect candidate will have a proven track record of leading and scaling high-growth organizations by refining systems and processes and building essential operational, technological, communications, and financial functions.

Mission Statement

The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance (www.eminvestorsalliance.org) enables institutional investors to support good governance, promote sustainable development, and improve investment performance in the governments and companies in which they invest.

Description

Issue Focus: The Alliance focuses on ensuring that (1) government revenues are used to deliver public services to citizens rather than siphoned off by corruption and (2) corporate practices meet high standards for anti-corruption, human rights and animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. In particular, the Alliance has the following work streams: (1) government debt and fiscal governance, (2) oil & mining sector, (3) agricultural sector, and (5) environmental/social/governance (ESG) integration into the investment process.

Activities: The Alliance’s primary activities include (1) organizing educational events for investors, (2) producing research on ESG issues, and (3) organizing forums where investors and policy experts can engage with corporate or government officials.
