STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Position Overview:
  • Teach college students molecular biology topics including DNA/RNA structure, gene expression, molecular genetics, recombinant DNA technologies, and genetic engineering.

  • Maintain digital office hours to support student inquiries and academic discussions.

  • Encourage exploration of key molecular biology concepts such as transcription, translation, mutations, and regulation of gene expression.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of learning modules and course presentations tailored to molecular biology.

  • Simulations and Virtual Labs: Design and guide digital molecular biology simulations, such as PCR experiments, gel electrophoresis, gene cloning, or CRISPR applications.

  • Support students in analyzing case studies focused on genetic disorders, biotechnology applications, and personalized medicine.

  • Feedback and Grading: Evaluate assignments, tests, and quizzes to assess student comprehension of molecular biology concepts.

  • Provide constructive feedback to foster student understanding and academic growth.

  • Resource Development: Create supplementary educational materials for core molecular biology topics, including diagrams, concept maps, and interactive guides.

  • Manage and update a resource library of scientific literature, research databases, and academic references.

  • Student Engagement: Lead discussions on real-world applications of molecular biology in fields like medicine, forensic science, agriculture, and bioinformatics.

  • Inspire students to connect their academic learning to global and local scientific challenges.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field is required; graduate students are preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of molecular biology topics such as gene regulation, genetic engineering, DNA replication, and biotechnology.

  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques or virtual molecular biology tools is an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Prior teaching or tutoring experience is highly valued.

  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
