About the Role:

Are you passionate about technology, data, and purpose-driven systems? HPG is seeking a visionary Director of IT & Research Systems to lead our growing IT Department, a team that powers everything from internal operations to global program infrastructure.

This volunteer leadership role combines technical strategy with human impact. You’ll oversee our IT systems, guide digital development, and lead a team of tech-savvy researchers and analysts who support program innovation and development initiatives across Africa, Latin America, and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the organization’s core digital platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Confluence, Slack, Asana, etc.)
  • Guide or coordinate development of internal tools, websites, or software as needed
  • Manage user access, systems security, and troubleshooting support for staff and volunteers
  • Lead a team of data analysts and IT researchers contributing to development strategy and organizational intelligence
  • Collaborate with departments like Program, Development, Efficiency, and Innovation to advise on best-fit tech tools and digital workflows
  • Develop and document internal tech policies, training resources, and standard operating procedures

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience leading IT teams or managing technical operations
  • Familiarity with digital systems in nonprofit or startup settings
  • Knowledge of tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft 365, Asana, and Confluence
  • Ability to oversee both system infrastructure and exploratory research
  • Strong communication skills and team-building capacity
  • Optional but helpful: familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Zapier, or web development platforms

Time Commitment:

  • Estimated 5-10 hours/week (flexible)
  • Remote position
  • Monthly cabinet meeting (virtual) with leadership team

Founded in 2022 by Gilbert Foust, HPG serves as a fiscal sponsorship organization, supporting other nonprofits in achieving their missions.
