Share the gift of presence and comfort as a vigil volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: NorthStar Home Hospice

NorthStar Home Hospice needs compassionate people to join our team to sit vigil with patients during their final days and hours. Patients live in their own homes or long-term care facilities in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Vigil volunteers sit at the bedside to offer companionship, comfort, and emotional support to patients during their final days and hours of life. Vigil support is provided to patients who have no family to be with them or to provide respite time to families and caregivers. Vigil volunteers can provide a calming presence, play soothing recorded music, or just embrace the silence by holding a hand, and provide a listening ear and support to family/caregivers. When a vigil need arises, volunteers sign up for shifts, based on their availability and schedule.

Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team! We provide ongoing support, comprehensive orientation/training, and screenings at no cost to you. You will also receive specialized vigil training. Once you complete your orientation/training, and screenings, we will strive to assign you close to your home or work, and based on your schedule and availability.

Become part of something special and make a difference in the lives of local hospice patients when they need it most!
