ORGANIZATION: BAYSTATE HEALTH INC

Everyone knows how difficult it can be to find your way around a large building, especially a hospital. Part of a brand new program, ASK ME! volunteers are positioned at strategic points, where they both assure visitors heading in the right direction and direct those with questions to their destination.

ASK ME! volunteers should expect to encounter and engage hundreds of people during a 2-3 hour shift. This role, which is mainly a standing and walking one, is an opportunity for students age 14-18 to get their first experience of what it is like being in a hospital.

Applicants must be willing to serve a 2-to-4 hour shift on a consistent weekly basis during the summer of 2025. Shifts are available as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m.

Mission Statement

Baystate Health has volunteer roles at each of our four campuses - Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, and Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. We welcome individuals aged 14 and older who are willing to serve on a 2- to 4-hour shift on a consistent weekly basis for a period of at least six months. Baystate Health Volunteer Services Mission: To enhance the experience of our patients, guests, and staff by aligning local citizens and area resources to create more vibrant healthcare facilities and communities. Baystate Health Volunteer Services Vision: Be a destination of choice for community members to dedicate available time and resources.

What will you create as a volunteer with Baystate Health? Will you create smiles by offering directions or answers in a time of need? Will you create a sunnier day by visiting with an inpatient or reassuring a guest as you lead them to a destination? Will you create a smoother path to a successful future by serving our patients, staff, and guests as you build a resume toward a medical career?

Whatever you wish to create, you can do so as a volunteer at Baystate Health. Our volunteers - hundreds strong across four campuses in Springfield, Greenfield, Westfield, and Palmer - create a stronger community to work, live, and grow 365 days a year in both traditional and tailored roles. We feature opportunities from:
* Desk roles to active experiences where you might get 10,000 steps per day.
* Roles that involve patient interaction to those which can be achieved from home.
* Roles for students in high school to roles for those whose school days were generations ago.
* Roles available early in the morning to roles available late at night.
