We are Mentor A Promise, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing holistic support services to students experiencing housing challenges and homelessness in NYC. We provide social emotional learning, academic support and mentoring services to our students. We are looking for Policy Coordinator to help us grow.
Job Description We strive to help families and young people by providing supportive services that are responsive to the needs of individual youth and families. The Policy Coordinator will ensure that our organization complies with all local, state and federal regulations, best practice standards and provides high level oversight to matters related to our work.- Create and manage a Policy Manual and Policy Database to facilitate access to relevant parties.
- Document internal processes and best practices
- Draft policy briefs and desk aids to summarize policies for quick reference and delivery to staff during rollcalls.
- Review and edit policies to align with current operational practices, procedures, and oversight regulations, including consolidating feedback from program teams for policy updates.
- Ensure policies refer to and remain compliant with regulations as updates are made.
- Communicate with internal partners and staff to access and digitally store relevant documentation that is required as supplement for policies.
- Ongoing collaboration with internal stakeholders and partners to gather and analyze information impacting policy and practice and to remain informed re: emerging needs and trends.

We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. We connect students with our mentors for in-person and online programs.
