We are seeking an experienced, passionate Volunteer Senior Content Writer to elevate the voice of Dream Factory of Brooklyn through thoughtful and strategic storytelling. With over 10 years of content writing experience, you will lead the creation of compelling, mission-driven content that deepens community engagement and inspires action. This senior role is ideal for a seasoned writer who believes in the power of words to create change and wants to use their talents to support critically and chronically ill children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Content Strategy: Shape and guide the organization’s content direction, ensuring it supports our goals and resonates with our community.

  • Content Creation: Craft original, high-quality blog posts that spotlight our mission, showcase dream stories, address relevant social topics, and promote upcoming events and campaigns.

  • Email Marketing: Write impactful email newsletters and communications that update our audience, highlight successes, and drive engagement and donations.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with marketing, fundraising, and programming teams to align messaging across platforms and contribute to broader campaign efforts.

  • Editorial Oversight: Review and edit content produced by junior writers or interns, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with our brand voice.

  • Brand Voice Leadership: Refine and maintain Dream Factory of Brooklyn’s tone, ensuring all written materials reflect our values of hope, compassion, and empowerment.

  • SEO Optimization: Apply SEO best practices to maximize content visibility and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional content writing experience.

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong portfolio showcasing versatility and depth.

  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex ideas into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.

  • Strong understanding of SEO and digital content best practices.

Description

The Dream Factory was established as an all-volunteer wish-granting organization in 1980. In the past thirty plus years, it has grown into one of the nations largest wish-granting organizations with local chapters across the country and a national Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Dream Factory is about children: critically and chronically ill children whose lives have been challenged in ways that the average person cannot comprehend.

The Dream Factory exists to bring some happiness into these lives. As a Dream Factory volunteer, you will interact with children and their families, with other volunteers, members of the medical community and social services agencies, and with donors, sponsors and other members of the community.
