Foster parents allow North Beach PAWS to care for animals we may not be able to care for in the shelter, and allow us to care for more animals overall.
Foster homes offer a low-stress environment for the animal that can improve medical recovery and allows anxious pets to relax. All supplies, food, litter and medications will be provided through the shelter.
Position Goals:
* Provide a safe and nurturing environment for foster pets until they are able to be adopted.
* Be the animal’s advocate by sharing concerns and observations about the pet, and providing content to help the pet get adopted when ready.
Volunteer Qualifications:
This position may be perfect for you if you . . .
* Are comfortable caring for animals in your home.
* Are willing to make trips to the shelter to pick up foster pets, supplies, etc. and bringing pets to
appointments.
* Work well without direct supervision, but are good at following instructions.
* Have an irregular schedule, but can commit to caring for an animal for a set period of time.
Prior experience:
* Any prior experience caring for animals is beneficial to this work. Foster parents will be set up with only animals they feel prepared to care for.
* Foster providers should have basic reading and writing skills, since important information on animal health and behavior may be communicated in writing.

Mission Statement
About Us North Beach PAWS is committed to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted dogs and cats by providing shelter or foster care, and to seek permanent loving homes for them. We promote the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats to reduce overpopulation. We are dedicated to educating the community to create responsible pet guardianship.
Description
North Beach PAWS, a no-kill, all-volunteer animal shelter, has served Grays Harbor County since 2002. We rescue, shelter, and find homes for cats and dogs through owner surrenders, transfers, and rescues. Our goals include expanding our facilities, adding a new dog house, and creating a medical room for community vaccination services. Key programs include a spay and neuter voucher program, community vaccination clinics, and adoptions. Volunteers are essential to our mission, supporting shelter operations and events like our weekly garage sale to raise needed funds. We welcome new volunteers to join us in helping animals in need.
