Position Title: Volunteer Grant Writer

Organization: Arts4Schools (formerly Arts In CT)

Location: Remote / Based in DMV or Connecticut (preferred, not required)

Commitment: Flexible Hours (minimum 5-10 hours/week preferred)

About Us:

Arts4Schools is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming education through arts integration. We provide customized, high-quality arts programs including visual arts, music, theater, dance, media arts, and more to schools and communities across the region. Our mission is to make arts education accessible and impactful, especially for underserved communities.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced Volunteer Grant Writer to support our efforts in securing funding from city, state, and government agencies, as well as private foundations and corporations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the arts and education who wants to make a meaningful impact through their writing expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with our mission and programs
  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents
  • Collaborate with leadership to gather necessary organizational data, budgets, and program descriptions
  • Maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and follow-ups
  • Assist with reporting requirements for awarded grants
  • Help develop templates and language for future submissions

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience writing successful grants for nonprofit organizations (preferably in the arts or education sectors)
  • Strong understanding of government, city, and state grant processes
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and nonprofit operations is a plus
